Police send armed officers, helicopter after ‘tiger’ spotted in Kent

Cops with guns were searching the Kent countryside on Saturday morning after someone reported seeing a tiger on the loose.

But it turned out to be a sculpture by a local artist in the village of Underriver, according to the Guardian.

Artist Juliet Simpson made the sculpture from chicken wire and 20 years ago then placed it in her garden. A neighbour warned her police were responding to a phone call about a big cat in the area.

The tiger hasn’t bothered anyone before, but maybe some passing dogs, Simpson told the paper. A police officer suggested the person who spotted the sculpture may have been a viewer of the Netflix series “Tiger King”.

Kent police confirmed it sent out officers and a helicopter after being alerted about “a large wild cat”.
