British government tries to ban guns… again

The British government is exploring the possibility of another gun ban as it releases a consultation paper on .50 calibre rifles.

Despite the extensive background checks required to become a firearms licence holder in the UK, it believes that a ban on the rifles will stop them being used in criminal and terrorist activities.

The high calibre .50″ rifles are usually used for long range distances greater than 1,200yds. And there are only 64 of these rifles owned by private individuals in the UK.

There are two large .50 calibre rifle clubs in the UK – the Fifty Cal Shooting Association (FCSA) and Offa’s Dyke Rifle Club.
